Make it Happen! Lynn Museum Celebrates Women’s History Month
The Lynn Museum will feature special programming for March to celebrate Women’s History Month. Make it Happen, the official theme for 2015 International Women’s Day, encourages action for advancing and recognizing the roles of women around the world. The International Women’s Day celebration on March 7th will kick off our exciting series of programs for the month of March featuring specialized tours, activities, and an exciting MESA talk by Astrida Schaeffer on “Women’s Clothing in the Victorian Era.” Part of our programming for the month will be the Lynn Museum’s first community collaborative art project, Be a Maker. Visitors will be given a paper cut-out of a shoe and art supplies to respond to the prompt “I am…” Contributions can be made throughout the month of March. We invite you to bring friends, colleagues, and family to visit the museum and participate in this project. The shoes will be arranged to re-create the Shoe Medallion that inspired our logo and the finished piece will be displayed in the museum in early April in our first floor gallery.
A full list of programming for the month can be found on our website www.lynnmuseum.org. Guided group tours for adults and school-aged audiences featuring our Women’s History Month content are available on request. Please contact the museum directly for more information.
We look forward to seeing you in March!
