The public is invited to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow sailors, skiers, and townspeople as we launch the annual Snowflake Regatta—an event held for the benefit of the Sail Salem Scholarship Fund and dedicated to the memory of Brad White. We begin this celebration with the Snowflake Regatta Warm-Up Party at 6:00pm on Wednesday, February 28, at Finz Seafood & Grill, on Pickering Wharf in downtown Salem.
For those who venture North, the celebration will resume on March 16 at Cranmore Mountain in North Conway, New Hampshire, with ski races and fun for the whole family.
Racers of all ages and skill levels are welcome—boys, girls, men, and women. They may compete individually and as part of a team. Frequently, sailboat and powerboat racing teams compete as teams (and as individuals), as do some families. Handicaps are assigned based on age and sex.
Sail Salem, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, runs a community sailing program that conducts summer sailing camps with educational programs for children. Community support and generous donations have enabled us to introduce the sport of sailing to thousands of children from Salem and its surrounding North Shore towns. Scholarships and financial aid are available for these programs, helping us to ensure that no kid gets left on the dock. For more information, visit us at sailsalem.org
