ABOUT THE FACILITATORS:
Justin Capuano, Vice President Commercial Lending – North Region
Justin Capuano joined MassDevelopment in 2024 as the Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer for the North Region. In this role, he handles the screening, underwriting, and closing of new loan and mortgage guarantee requests, and manages a portfolio of existing loans in the North Region of the Commonwealth. Mr. Capuano most recently worked for Boston-based UC Funds where he was Vice President and Head of Production and Originations. He joined UC Funds as an analyst in 2017 after graduating from Siena College in New York with a degree in Finance. At UC Funds, he analyzed, underwrote, negotiated, and closed a broad range of complex commercial real estate transactions – including bridge loans, construction loans, subordinate/mezzanine loans and preferred equity investments that ranged from $5 million to $200 million. Previously, Mr. Capuano worked as an underwriting and asset management analyst for the private commercial real estate firm Torchlight Investors in New York City, and Coldwell Banker Commercial in Albany, NY. In his free time, Mr. Capuano enjoys rooting for the Boston Celtics, hiking, volunteering for non-profits and walking his dog around Jamaica Plain.
Chuck Merrill, Vice President – Lending
Chuck Merrill has engaged New England businesses delivering financing options, loan restructurings and viability resolutions during his 30+ years finance career. His professional focus for banks and finance companies has included community banking, national asset-based lending, receivables factoring, problem loan management and insolvency resolution. For eight years as one of MassDevelopment’s VP of Finance (formerly Mass Growth Capital Corp.), Chuck’s experiences have been invaluable to MassDevelopment and its clients, helping Massachusetts-based companies survive, thrive, and expand employment, fulfilling MassDevelopment’s mission. Chuck is also an active member of “Team Massachusetts”, a comprehensive group of state and quasi-state agencies that work collaboratively to recruit and retain companies and jobs in the Commonwealth.
