On Thursday, July 11th at 10:30am, Secretary Monica Tibbits-Nutt will join elected officials and municipal leaders in the City of Lynn for a ceremonial groundbreaking event for the Northern Strand Extension Project. The length of the Northern Strand Extension Project is approximately 1.9 mile – taking users through the City of Lynn to the Lynn shore and Nahant Beach. The purpose of this On-Road Extension Project is to provide safer and improved transportation access for bicycle users and pedestrians.
This Project seeks to accomplish this through the construction of sections of two-way separated bicycle lanes and sections of shared-use paths for bicycle and pedestrian users. As envisioned, this regional trail will connect areas of cultural, economic, social, and natural significance along the multi-community corridor and provide a non-motorized transportation and recreational alternative for people of all ages and abilities.
