DESCRIPTION:LYNN – NORTHERN STRAND EXTENSION GROUNDBREAKING EVENT \n•Who: Transportation Secretary Monica Tibbits-Nutt and state and local officials•When: Thursday\, July 11th at 10:30am•Where: Event location is the Carroll Parkway*Parking will be available at North Shore Community College lotOn Thursday\, July 11th at 10:30am\, Secretary Monica Tibbits-Nutt will join elected officials and municipal leaders in the City of Lynn for a ceremonial groundbreaking event for the Northern Strand Extension Project. The length of the Northern Strand Extension Project is approximately 1.9 mile – taking users through the City of Lynn to the Lynn shore and Nahant Beach. The purpose of this On-Road Extension Project is to provide safer and improved transportation access for bicycle users and pedestrians. This Project seeks to accomplish this through the construction of sections of two-way separated bicycle lanes and sections of shared-use paths for bicycle and pedestrian users. As envisioned\, this regional trail will connect areas of cultural\, economic\, social\, and natural significance along the multi-community corridor and provide a non-motorized transportation and recreational alternative for people of all ages and abilities.
